Colorado! Effective Today August 7, 2023, the move over law will now apply to all vehicles on the side of the road. That means you must move over if there is a stationary vehicle on the side of the road with emergency lights or hazards on. If you can’t move over because there isn’t a lane or other circumstances, you must slow down by at least 20 miles per hour below the speed limit. Failing to do so can result in a Class 2 misdemeanor traffic violation. Move Over laws help protect emergency responders and individuals who may be broken down on the side of the road.

2022 was the deadliest year on Colorado roads since 1981. Look out for your fellow Coloradan and Slow Down, Move Over!
